Thought I'd show you my wee routine for what I slap on my face for work. At the weekends I’ll either have a “MFD” (makeup free day) or go for it and take the time to use different things. I try to keep it simple in the mornings so that I can have maximum sleeping time!

Cleanser: Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser
I jumped on the band wagon a couple weeks ago and gave this a whirl. I think I might be the only person who hasn’t been totally blown away by this product. I mean it’s fine, it works and my face feels clean but I think I get a deeper clean with others, such as L’Oreal Perfect Clean which I’ve just finished. I won’t give up though! (Not at over a tenner a pop anyway) I’ll persevere and see how it goes, stay tuned!

Moisturiser: Oilatum Natural Repair / Garnier Pure A
I have combination skin so depending how oily or dry it is I’ll use either of these. Garnier for oily and Oilatum for dry. I highly recommend both these dudes.

Foundation: Chanel Mat Lumiere / Revlon Colorstay
I’ll do another post about the different foundations I use but at the moment it’s between these two. If my skin is especially oily I go with the Revlon. I absolutely love these, definitely Holy Grail for me covering both ends of the price scale.

Concealer: Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection / Witch Concealer Stick
You may be starting to notice a pattern here.... another Pixiwoo recommendation! My eyes suffer from “purple bags syndrome” and at £4.19, you really can’t go wrong with the Collection 2000. It's also good on blemishes once they start to heal/fade. One thing I will say though is that the packaging is a bit of a pain! The print starts to come off in your hands and product gets a bit messy around the lid. Nothing a wet wipe can’t fix though!
I use the Witch concealer stick on any particularly nasty blemishes. Fleur de Force has a great video here where she talks about using this on “Juicy” spots and I can’t describe it better than that! It’s medicated so you know it’s treating the area and not just aggravating the situation.

Powder: Mac Mineralise Skinfinish Natural (Medium Dark)
Love love love this! I’m gonna keep this short and sweet or we’ll be here all day.... It sets your foundation with a flawless, matt finish still allowing your skin to look like skin. Does not look powdery or caked. I think I’m on my 5th one.

Bronzer: H&M Bronzing Powder
This is a nice big bronzer. It’s not shimmery, so it’s good for contouring. I would say it’s not as good as Benefit Hoola (my favourite) but it’s good for the money (around a fiver) and can also be used with a big brush on your décolletage etc.

Blusher: The Happy Couple (Primark)
Another wee cheapie. I picked this up about a year ago and have only recently started using it. (I think it’s supposed to be a dupe for the Benefit bronzer and highlighting duo, “10”). I really like it, especially if I’ve got a bit of tan on my cheeks in the summer months.

Eyeshadow: Urban Decay Naked Palette
What can I say about this… probably nothing that hasn’t already been blogged about! This palette has it all, you really don’t need anything else. For work I usually just sweep on a bit of “Sin” and/or “Toasted”. Looks fab, takes 2 seconds!

Mascara: Max Factor False Lash Effect
I’m not overly keen on this mascara to be honest. The formulation is good, it doesn’t clump (just doesn’t, ever). But for me the wand is way too big to get the definition I like. I’m forever jabbing myself in the eye with it! I’ll be heading back to my old faithful Maybelline Define a Lash Volume soon!

Lips: Vaseline Rosy Lips
Boring! I know, I know, it’s hardly make up! But this little beaut is one of those products I just couldn’t live without. It’s great on its own or under lipstick/gloss. The tint is just enough to really bring out my own lip colour.

All this takes about 5-10 minutes and I just have enough time to down an espresso from my beloved Tassimo machine before heading out the door!

What is your morning routine? Do you trade sleep for better make up?

  3. I thought about the urban decay eye pallet Do the colours last long on your eyes? Kate x

  4. Hi Katherine, yes they last the whole day. They are really well pigmented as well so the colours stand out nicely. You get a little tube of Primer Potion with the palette and if you use a small amout of that before the shadow, it will last ages without creasing. xo
